Popular Wedding Songs

I always get asked how many songs should a couple pick for their ceremony or what type of songs are most suitable. This depends on the type of ceremony and how personal you want it to be. Do you want a string quartet, or an Irish duet? Maybe you love acoustic covers of popular songs played on piano or violin. I once arranged rock songs in an acoustic classical style for Cello and Double Bass, it was gorgeous!

In recent times, I don’t see so much of ‘Here comes the Bride’ and ‘The Wedding March’, I’m seeing more variety of styles and contemporary pieces in the set lists. It’s lovely to see couples choose songs which hold special meaning for them. Recently we’ve learned folk songs from Iceland, Norway and Wales.

I put together a few lists of popular songs which get requested quite often as I love learning new material, and creating new arrangements with different instruments.

Being a Violinist, I have to say my own personal favourite is a full string sound with Violin, Guitar, Cello and Double Bass!

Happy reading and listening! :-)
